  This is the closest Home Improvement/Hardware store to my house so I really loved the idea of this place. Unfortunately, my most recent experiences here were terrible. After the hurricane, Rocky's ACE Hardware conveniently altered their return policy. They created a list of items ineligible for return. The list is described as being specific to hurricane related items but in reality the list encompasses everything in the store. How nice. This was a surprise to me when I went to return my unused/unopened items to the cashier - John. From the start John was rude and impatient with me. Not sure if he was having a bad day or if he just doesn't like his job. I expressed my frustration in civil manner. Instead of John politely explaining the hurricane policy, he chose to be short, rude and pushy to get me out the store. As I turned to the manager, Kerry Wells, I looked back at John as he mumbled "F**king A**hole". I was shocked, I've never experienced anything like this in any Service industry. Kerry Wells was polite but refused to acknowledge the situation because he, "didn't hear him say it". The store manager Bill wasn't there. I did get to speak with District Manager Allyson. She was polite but did little to repair the situation. Being the only hardware store within a 15 minute radius, I'm convinced the discourteous behavior from the staff is due to their false sense of importance to the community. I will never give this place my business again and I'll be sure to pass the word on so no friends/family have to experience what I did at this store. Going forward, I'll make the drive to Home Depot or Lowes.
